Practitioner

Dr. Edward Lee, Licensed Acupuncturist & D.O.M.

Background

Born and raised in South Korea, Dr. Lee was steeped in Oriental healing culture as he witnessed his father practicing Oriental medicine in their clinic at home. In his mid-twenties he was blessed to meet two exceptional spiritual masters, who taught him chi and chi meditation, martial arts, Taoism, Buddhist philosophy and meditation. Their teachings made him appreciate the value of the medicine his father offered, and inspired and encouraged his interest in becoming a healer.

In 1995, he received his Master’s Degree at Samra University of Oriental Medicine in L.A. and got the CA Acupuncturist license and the certificate of NCCAOM. He then went on to Korea to study Byungin Herbology, Korean Saam Acupuncture, Dongshi Acupuncture, and Korean Hand Acupuncture.

He has been a licensed Acupuncturist & O.M.D. for over 25 years and successfully helped thousands of patients to heal through acupuncture, oriental herbal medicine, and other holistic therapies. He has acquired many skills and developed the expertise in treating a wide variety of painful conditions including but not limited to musculoskeletal pain, neuropathy, fibromyalsia, digestive disorders, immune system weakness, female reproductive concerns, insomnia, mental disease like depression and anxiety.

One of the aspects of his clinical practice that he most enjoys is educating his patients on how to improve their health and prevent illness. He believes that a primary responsibility of a healer is to be a teacher to patients. He understands that each patient is unique and he will tailor each patient’s treatment to their specific condition. He specializes in gentle acupuncture. Every patient will be treated with the utmost respect and focus. His goal is to provide thoughtful and compassionate care while empowering his patients to live healthier lives.

Philosophy

Dr. Lee’s philosophy of medicine aligns with the ancient notion of interconnectedness rooted in Taoism, where humanity reflects the greater universe. This interconnectedness is often represented by the concept of “Tong” (통, 通), highlighting flow and harmony between the macrocosm (universe) and microcosm (individual).

This perspective not only influenced his spiritual and philosophical thoughts but also shaped his medical practice by fostering a holistic view of well-being.
He draws from the ancient wisdom of The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, a foundational text in East Asian medicine dating back over 4,000 years. With a focus on East Asian medical theory, he empowers patients with knowledge, uncovering the root causes of discomfort and offering personalized therapeutic approaches, with acupuncture, medicinal herbs,  meditation, moxibustion,  dietary strategies, and more.
